Klose out (kind of,. well, not really) - Stern in
Klose Departs As Head of NPR - National Public Radio’s CEO Kevin Klose will step aside Oct. 1 and will be replaced by Ken Stern, who is currently executive vice president, the network announced Thursday.Klose, 66, has been president and CEO since joining NPR in 1998. He will remain as president and a member of the board of directors. In his new role, he will be in charge of an initiative to strengthen public radio finances nationwide.
I have had the chance to get to know Ken reasonably well over the last year during my work at NPR. Ken is strong on execution and comes into this position with all the elements of a strong team around him to help bring a new agenda to life.
With all the questions that have come up recently on the effect of the Kroc endowment, fresh leadership is possibly one of the best opportunities NPR will have to start breaking new ground.
What will the vision be?
All Aboard
I have to say, Skype seems to have, by far, the best conferencing tool for groups of 3-4. The four of us today used it for our All-Hands meeting to get some deadlines and goals in line.
One thing that I am excited about is a new website, which should be partially active next week and will continue to have pieces added on as they are ready.
It’s friday again, I am looking forward to getting a lot of work done this weekend in between the usual weekend commitments. I made a pair of Gouda-Stuffed chicken breasts for supper and, Laurel’s favorite, baked potatoes. They are both in the oven now. Can’t wait.
Veseys.com relaunch
The guys at SO have relaunched the Veseys website today (or yesterday).
It looks great, and I am sure it’s an unexpected treat for Veseys customers.

Office 2.0
Tom and I will be heading to the Office 2.0 Conference. Leila will be speaking, and I am looking forward to that. It will be nice to see what other people are thinking about this space, especially people who’s businesses have very little to do with Office/Enterprise tools (their speakers list seems to have a lot of people like that — but I assume that is their point?).
Do not use registerfly.com
I’m not sure what to say. Registerfly.com has been negligent in renewing my domain names, they have diguised their process and lied on several occasions about the time needed to complete their process.
As a result, I have lost one domain into redemption, one domain has expired and I am working with ICANN to fix it and another domain I just managed to save in time.
I am posting this for anyone who might google the issue.

Web Worker Daily
WebWorkerDaily is a new blog from Om Malik, focused on those of us who work in our pyjamas and have offices in the second bedroom.
It could also be a subversive communist propaganda thing, with a name and graphics like that.
