  1. At home I mostly drink spring water, because even though Toronto’s municipal water is pretty germ-free it originates from Lake Ontario which contains industrial pollutants like PCBs and dioxins. As far as I know the treatment plant can’t get rid of those, and neither can something like a Brita filter.

  2. Oh, and Toronto’s water is fluoridated. I use toothpaste with fluoride, but I’d rather not drink too much of the stuff. Many Torontonians, including children, have alarming levels of fluoride in their bodies simply because they drink more water, and water-based drinks, than the “average” person for whom the fluoridation level was designed. Toronto reduced its level not long ago, but it’s still dangerous.
